Error message: "Some compressed volumes have been found on this computer, the installation cannot continue" during install.
Posted by , Last modified by on 30 Sep 2013

Cause:

RollBack Rx does NOT support NTFS drive compression, but does support NTFS file compression. Either Drive 0 or a partition on it is compressed.

Solution:

You will need to decompress the drive or partition.  In order to decompress a Drive or Partition, do the following 5 steps:

  1. Click My Computer from the Start Menu or the Desktop.
  2. Right-click on Drive C: and select Properties from the popup menu
  3. Click on the General tab
  4. If the Compress volume to save disk space check box is checked, uncheck it. Then click OK.
  5. You will get a pop-up that asks you whether you want to decompress just the drive or all the folders, sub-folders and files. You only need to decompress the drive, but you can make any choice you want. Click Okay.

Below is the screenshot for the Drive Properties:

As you can notice, the "Compress drive to save disk space" is not checked, hence it is not compressed.

Repeat these steps for all the partitions defined on Drive 0, if they are going to be protected by Rollback Rx.

Note: You have to be logged on as an Administrator or a member of the Windows Administrators group to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.
