Cryptolocker gets knocked out - no more negotiating with Cyber Bullies

We all know who made it to the Santa’s naughty list this year- yes, the ones behind the creation of Cryptolocker. What does this notorious bully do? Like any other bully out there- it makes you pay up your lunch money or in this case a little more than that. This ransomware Trojan once executed takes hostage of your system by encrypting all its data and demands for a ransom payment in order to release the “Private Key” to decrypt the data. During this hostile situation of your PC- you will notice that your wallpaper change into Cryptolocker infamous wallpaper and a pop-up will show a countdown left before the Private Key is destroyed if the payment is not made.

The countdown time given by the Cryptolocker must not be mistaken as a good grace by its creators. Due to the complexity of the encryption used by this ransomware, it takes some time to fully encrypt the data. Some of you might ask why are the police not doing anything, well that is because no one knows who is behind this attack and any payments made is virtually untraceable as they use MoneyPak vouchers and Bitcoins which cannot be traced. Users get infected by Cryptolocker when they run an innocent-looking PDF file or an attachment.

Until now, there are programs such as Anti-Virus software and with a little bit registry tweaking- you will be able to remove Cryptolocker and its files. But what do you do with those important files that have already been encrypted by Cryptolocker? Well here comes the Cavalry.
