Important Updates

Hello Horizon DataSys fans!

In the past two months there have been a few Windows updates mostly on Windows 7 and 8/8.1 machines that ended up having adverse effects on RollBack Rx, Drive Vaccine, and Reboot Restore Rx.

Starting today, a new thread in our Community Forum (found here) will be dedicated to providing a list of general updates (mostly pertaining to Windows updates) and their compatibility with our software.

RollBack Rx, Drive Vaccine, Reboot Restore Rx updates

Good afternoon all!

As of today (Nov. 6, 2014) a minor upgrade for RollBack Rx, Drive Vaccine and Reboot Restore Rx have been released.

With the new releases these issues have been addressed.

RollBack Rx:

  • Fixed issue where laptop powers down due to low battery life and RollBack Rx did not have enough time to save the snapshot index to disk
  • Added a file filter driver to check changes to the EFI file in the unprotected system reserve partition
  • Added a check of the Master Boot Record (MBR)

Phew! We made it!

After 10 days of traveling around Austin, TX and Orlando, FL the Horizon DataSys team is happy to be safely back in beautiful Vancouver, B.C.  That's right - the team was out and about attending two massive tech conferences which brought in some of the best of the best at both SpiceWorld 2014 and EduCause 2014.

Microsoft fixes faulty Windows updates

In mid-August Microsoft released several faulty updates for the Windows operating system that resulted in many users getting the Blue Screen of Death (BSoD), particularly Windows 7 64-bit users.

As of August 27 the company has apparently fixed the issue and is now re-releasing the updates (edited of course to not shut down PC's).
