About the Subsystem Console

The Subsystem Console is Reboot Restore's boot-time interface (accessed by pressing HOME after BIOS) that provides system restoration options including baseline restoration, protection management, and uninstall.

The Subsystem Console is an interface that provides access to Reboot Restore's dedicated operating system - a lightweight, standalone system that operates completely independently of Windows.

To access the Subsystem Console on a protected system:

  1. Start your computer and wait for the BIOS initialization to complete
  2. Press the HOME key immediately after BIOS startup
  3. Enter your Reboot Restore credentials when prompted:
    • Username
    • Password
  4. You will then be taken to the Subsystem Console menu

Important Notes

  • Timing is critical - press HOME immediately after BIOS completes its initialization
  • This process must be completed before the main operating system begins loading

Available Functions

  • Restore Baseline Reverts your PC to the most recently saved baseline configuration, eliminating all unsaved changes made since that point.
  • Restore the LGK (Last Known Good) Returns your system to the "Last Known Good" baseline - typically used when Windows fails to start properly after updates, or when software changes saved to your baseline are causing issues. This option restores your PC to its state on the day Reboot Restore was first installed.
  • Disable Restore Sets Restore Settings to "Restore on Demand" mode by turning off automatic restore triggers and scheduled update tasks. This lets you boot into Windows normally with all automation temporarily suspended - particularly helpful when resolving boot or reboot loops caused by recent baseline updates.
  • Uninstall Completely removes Reboot Restore from your system, including any configured exemption drives and all associated protection features.
  • Exit Closes the Subsystem Console and allows Windows to continue its normal startup process.

Not seeing the Reboot Restore Enterprise splash screen? The Subsystem Console splash may be hidden. You can still access it by tapping on the HOME key right after your BIOS initializes.
